‘General Hospital’ (GH) News: Nicolas Bechtel Lands New Role On Disney Channel Series ‘Stuck in the Middle’

“General Hospital” actor Nicolas Bechtel (Spencer Cassadine) has landed a role on the new Disney Channel series “Stuck in the Middle.” The youngster will co-star with Jenna Ortega from the FOX comedy “Jane the Virgin.”

The series – part of Disney’s growing effort to add more Latino-based program to its schedule – centers around the Diaz family. “Stuck in the Middle” is similar to the FOX show “Malcom in the Middle” as it is told from the perspective of the middle child Harley Diaz (Jenna Ortega). Nicolas Bechtel will play Harley’s little brother Danny. Production for the comedy is set to begin in November and the comedy is slated to premiere on the Disney Channel in the spring of 2016.

“Stuck in the Middle” will revolve around the parents and seven kids in the Diaz family. The character of Harley is somewhat of an engineering protégée and uses her inventions to navigate life as the middle child of this large family. Harley Diaz will find that being the middle child she is often overlooked – this can be a blessing and a curse. Wonder what trouble Nicolas Bechtel will stir up as Danny! He has always been quite the scene stealer on “General Hospital”!

Other cast members include Ronni Hawk as Rachel, Kayla Maisonet as Georgie, Isaak Presley as Grant, Malachi Barton as Beast and Ariana Greenblatt as Daphne. Linda Videti Figueiredo serves as executive producer of “Stuck in the Middle.” Figueiredo and Alison Brown share writing credits for the show.

But don’t worry “General Hospital” fans! While it seems TPTB are phasing the roles of the children on the daytime – fans haven’t seen much of Nickolas Cassadine’s (Tyler Christopher) little boy lately – you may see Nicolas turn up as Spencer Cassadine from time to time. Disney is the parent company of ABC so it shouldn’t be difficult for the young man to show up in Port Charles from time to time.
