In 1996, the young and beautiful Tori Spelling was known for her role on the primetime soap opera “Beverly Hills 90210.” She portrayed Donna Martin and wanted a change. The movie was about a young woman, early college age, that got tangled with the wrong man. The man was a psychopath that manipulated the adolescent girl. The young girl’s mother felt in the pit of her stomach that the man was not good for her daughter, and put her relationship with her on the line to protect her.
Lifetime and Sony Pictures will produce the new flick, which will be similar to the original, with a few changes to resonate from brand new pop culture. The movie is written by Amber Coney, and will be directed by Melanie Aitkenhead. James Franco, Diane Sokolow, Vince Jolivette, and Rachel Verno will step up as executive producers of the film.
Last week, social media exploded with reports that the legendary Tori Spelling was asked to appear in the film. Reportedly, she was asked to portray the mother of the young girl. Tori Spelling took to social media that once she portrayed the teenage girl, now she was asked to be the teenager’s mother. Tori took it in stride and noted she was seriously considering the offer.
Do you think Tori would be a great addition to the cast? Are you excited to see the remake of the film? Do you remember the 1996 version of the film?
“Mother, May I Sleep with Danger” is expected to air in mid-2015 on Lifetime.
