When “General Hospital” spoilers and casting news confirmed that Genie Francis was heading back to the ABC soap as Laura Spencer – GH fans were thrilled. And, now we have even better news! Genie Francis will be in Port Charles for the next few months, at least up until this fall. When spoilers first revealed Laura Spencer was returning to the show, everyone was mum on how long she would be around – but it turns out she will be in town longer than we all expected.
According to “General Hospital” spoilers, Anthony Geary has opted to sadly retire from the soap opera, and his grand finale and exit will be in July 2015. We all assumed that Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) had just returned to Port Charles to help Luke Spencer’s exit story along, but she told Soap Opera Digest that she will be in town for a few months after Geary’s exit.

In this week’s edition of Soap Opera Digest, Genie Francis dished some exciting spoilers. Francis told SOD, “I’ll be there for that [Luke’s exit], but I’ll also be there for the fall,” she says. “I’m very happy about that. It looks like it will be a fun experience all the way around.” The GH writers have been pretty tight-lipped about Luke’s exit from the daytime drama, and a popular theory was that he would leave town with his long-lost love Laura Spencer and they would ride off in to the sunset together. But, if Laura is still in town a few months after Luke’s exit – then there goes that theory.
