Maurice Bernard told Soaps In Depth that he and Anthony Geary have always had “genuine respect and affection for each other.” But that didn’t make saying good bye any easier. Maurice said on-screen Sonny and Luke kept their parting as if they may see each other in a few months. “I know what I played, and I believe Tony played the same thing, which was, ‘I love you, man. And I’m gonna miss you.’”
In reality Maurice Bernard said he was a bit chocked up when all was said and done. The actor says that the final scenes with Anthony Geary were much deeper than the way they were written. Even though the actors played it as if they’d see each other again, both Maurice and Anthony realized it was the last time they would work together.

But, never say never! Luke Spencer didn’t die, he merely walked off, perhaps to travel the world a bit and find himself. Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) is back, Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) certainly could use her dad right now, and there are unconfirmed rumors that Jonathan Jackson may return as Lucky Spencer in 2016. Who knows, Luke just may to come through Port Charles for a visit.
