Is it just me or are Port Charles’ finest far less than competent? Today we take a look at some ‘General Hospital’ spoilers and gossip about the PCPD and how far off track they’ve gotten recently. For a city with mobsters running rampant, you’d think the cops would be far more on the ball… There are three major criminal cases open in Port Charles right now and the boys in blue (and plain clothes) are running around like the Keystone Cops doing a terrible job of protecting its citizens.
How many crimes has the PCPD solved ever?
Most of us are accustomed to crime shows where the cops crack the case in one episode – NCIS, Law & Order, Major Crimes… Yet in Port Charles, it seems like no cases are ever solved. And if they are, it’s because the criminal was tricked into confessing by another civilian. Plus, even if the cops can convict and get the perpetrator to Pentonville, that prison is leaky as a sieve… The solve rate in Port Charles has to be about 2%. For TV cops, the PCPD is pretty pathetic.
What cases is the PCPD fumbling right now?
Currently, the cops have apparently given up on the Avery Corinthos kidnapping despite Nathan West [Ryan Paevey] finding a suspicious blanket in the possession of Ric Lansing [Rick Hearst]. Baby Avery was found in Silas Clay’s [Michael Easton] apartment and they don’t seem to have vetted him for the crime even though he was conveniently out of town while the baby was missing. Who was baby sitting for Silas? Seems like poking around NYC would have turned up evidence of Silas’ guilt right away.
There is a lot of focus now on the mob violence, but Commish Jordan Ashford [Vinessa Antoine] is letting Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard] spin her wheels. Jordan is uber-focused on Sonny who is uber-focused on Julian Jerome [William deVry], but Julian is not the likely culprit. Perhaps Jordan and her team should work the evidence instead of talking to the criminals involved in the case and letting them point fingers at each other and waste her time. Port Charles needs a new top cop!
The third case is Silas Clay’s murder and the PCPD has honed in on Franco [Roger Howarth] and aren’t really investigating anyone else. Of course, Franco had the murder weapon and a history of stabbing people, but that doesn’t mean he’s the culprit or that they shouldn’t work the evidence. But, then again, these are also the brilliant minds that couldn’t figure out that Denise DeMuccio is Ava Jerome and only ran one test despite the suspicious ‘no fingerprints’ thing.
Are personal issues more important than crime at the PCPD?
It’s no wonder the cops are a hot mess. Dante Falconeri [Dominic Zamprogna] is distracted worrying about getting caught cheating on his wife with Valerie Spencer [Brytni Sarpi]. He then pulled Nathan into his mess so that both partners are now distracted. Valerie is off-kilter and likely isn’t running the squad room efficiently and then she dragged Jordan into the mess. And if all the sex talk wasn’t enough to throw them off, Jordan is hyper-focused on Sonny because of TJ Ashford [Tequan Richmond].
Is the new DA the worst thing for the PCPD?
If all this wasn’t bad enough, Ric Lansing [Rick Hearst] in the mix makes everything worse. Ric is half-brother to top mobster Sonny, so that’s a case he’s got a vested interest in – but there’s more. He’s also uncle to the kidnapped kiddo, so he can’t be objective about her case either. Finally, Ric hates Franco because Ric’s wife Nina Clay [Michelle Stafford] loves the nutter – so he is not interested in justice for Silas, just in putting Franco away. Ric is a nasty piece of work and can only make the PCPD worse.
Where’s Anna Devane [Finola Hughes] when we need her? Maybe she can get the job as chief back. Alternately, ‘General Hospital’ rumor has it that Robert Scorpio [Tristan Rogers] will be back soon – and he knows how to be a kick-ass police commissioner – can we get the badge back on him?
