'General Hospital' Comings And Goings: Richard Burgi Joins The Cast, Revives The Character Paul Hornsby

Despite the declining ratings of General Hospital, the show is still adding new characters to its roster, hoping fans will become interested once again in the daytime soap opera. This time around, General Hospital has added actor Richard Burgi to the roster. Burgi debuted on July 8 as the character Paul Hornsby, the father of Dillon and also the ex-husband of Tracy. The role was previously played by Paul Satterfield from 1991-1994, but has been reprised by Richard Burgi.

Richard Burgi is no stranger to daytime television either. Burgi first started his career on Another World as Chad Rollo, and then appeared on shows such as One Life to Live as Randy Stone and As the World Turns as Glenn Harrington. Burgi also appeared in the popular daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives as Phillip Collier.

In addition to having a ton of experience in daytime television, Richard Burgi also has his fair share of primeime credits. Burgi has appeared in One West Waikiki, The Sentinel, 24, Point Pleasant, Judging Amy, Body of Proof, Harper’s Island, One Tree Hill, and of course, Desperate Housewives.

When we last saw Paul Satterfield, he was leaving Port Charles back in 1994. When Tracy ran into him on Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital, it was clear that she was not happy to see him, saying, “You’re a lying cheat in a pretty package.”

What do you think? Were you happy to see Paul Satterfield return to General Hospital? Will Richard Burgi help increase ratings, or is this another storyline that you do not care about? Let us know in the comments below.
