'General Hospital' Comings And Goings: Anthony Geary To Leave GH For Relaxing Life In Amsterdam?

Anthony Geary may be leaving General Hospital, but the legendary day time soap opera actor has just released a travelogue titled Amsterdam: On the Move With Anthony Geary. The straight to DVD release showcases the eight-time Emmy winning actor, Anthony Geary, fleeing Los Angeles to live full time in Amsterdam.

In Amsterdam: On the Move With Anthony Geary you will get an in depth look of why the actor has chosen to leave Los Angeles in order to find a peaceful home, living in Amsterdam. As you may, or may not know, Anthony Geary has lived part time in Amsterdam for the past several years and Geary wants to show you what he finds so interesting about a city built upon 17-century canals.

Anthony Geary says, “You’ve heard of the old man and the sea — well, this is the old man and the canal. The doctor said walking was the best thing I could do for my recovery so, after my surgery, I went to Amsterdam and just walked..and walked..and walked. Jim decided to make a film out of it. I said, ‘Fine, as long as I don’t have to do anything but just be me.’ Jim shot it quite nicely, and found a wonderful Dutch composer, Aron Kramer, to do the score. I think people will enjoy seeing my Amsterdam, which is not so much the iconic spots that are well known but rather the places I like to go that are off the beaten path.”

Unfortunately, if you are hoping for a lot of dialogue, you will be disappointed. The film focuses more on Geary’s favorite spots and less of his acting and talking.

One of Anthony Geary’s favorite things about Amsterdam is the fact that there is not much traffic. Geary expresses that he does not need a car, unlike Los Angeles, where traffic is horrible. Anthony Geary says, “I tie my boat right in front of my house and never worry about theft. It’s such a different world and my idea of paradise.”

      I do think that would be a good place for him to go. But I am really going to miss him on GH. I watch GH growing up. My mother watch GH to when we had a black and white TV . And that is when I started watching it with my mom growing and I am still am watching it tell this day. And I never miss a day of it. Love you GH and Anthony Geary we love you and we will miss you to. GH has a lot of fans out there and I no one is me for sure. Cheryl Brand
