‘Days of Our Lives’ recently won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Drama, which means they have the cache to do whatever they want with their characters and actors – not that they didn’t have that power before. And one of the first things they’re doing? Bringing Mary Beth Evans back on contract.
Mary revealed the news on her blog, writing, “I am back on contract, working like crazy and loving the stories I am playing.”
She announced this news on April 30th, and she also spoke about her previous stint on Days of Our Lives, way back in 2010. She explained, “I faced a similar situation when I first went back to Days of Our Lives in 2010. I was working in the family pub, and I would have days when all I would say was, ‘here is your to go order. At first I felt a bit humiliated and asked myself, ‘how did it get to this?’ Then I realized that I was lucky to have the job at all, and instead decided that I’d be the VERY best background player there ever was! I rocked that pretend bar – marrying condiments, folding napkins, wiping down the counters! I hung in there with a smile on my face and an improved attitude, and eventually things improved. Now, here we are four – five years later it has all changed again. I am back on contract, working like crazy and loving the stories I am playing. It is crazy how it turned around.”
Mary Beth Evans definitely is best known for playing Kayla Brady on Days of Our Lives, but she was also in the Emmy-winning show, The Bay, which she just happened to produce as well. She’s also been featured on other high-profile soaps, including General Hospital and As The World Turns.
Are you guys excited to see Mary Beth Evans return to Days of Our Lives on contract – which almost always means the writers have an exciting storyline for her character tucked up their sleeves?
