‘Days of Our Lives’ News: Alison Sweeney Reacts to Daytime Emmy Nomination, Says She ‘Really, Really Wanted This’

The latest “Days of Our Lives” news reveals that Alison Sweeney secured a Daytime Emmy nomination and she’s “giddy” with excitement. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Sweeney said that she “really, really wanted this.” After a 21-year run as Sami Brady on DOOL, this is Sweeney’s first nomination in the Lead Actress category. However, it looks like the wait just made becoming a nominee more satisfying. Sweeney noted that getting nominated for some of her last work at “Days” was exceptionally special. “To have gotten this in this year in particular means so much to me,” Sweeney said.

Alison Sweeney also stated that the “tremendous fan reaction” she received throughout her time on “Days of Our Lives” always made her “feel supported and encouraged.” Still, it undoubtedly feels good for the actress to be formally recognized for her talent. “It’s really special to be acknowledged by your peers,” Sweeney said. Since she waited a long time for this nomination, Sweeney understandably felt a bit let down by being excluded in the past. She noted that “it was always bittersweet to watch” the ceremony when she never got the opportunity to accept an award.

Fortunately, Sweeney now has a chance to take home a statuette and she’s savoring every minute of the experience. Sweeney exclaimed “I have a perma-grin that I haven’t taken off my face!” Many DOOL fans are rooting for Sweeney to win at the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on April 26. It’s also worth mentioning that Sweeney could be back in action on “Days of Our Lives” soon. Michael Logan, a TV Guide reporter, recently tweeted that Sweeney was set to return for the NBC soap’s 50th anniversary. Logan later clarified that Sweeney’s PR rep said it was “not a done deal.” Still, the rumors say there’s a good chance Sami will be back to stir up trouble.
