‘Days of Our Lives’ Interview: A Martinez Shares Spoilers – Can Eduardo Be Redeemed?

“Days of Our Lives” A Martinez believes his character Eduardo Hernandez can be redeemed. The actor wants fans to see the softer side of Eduardo.

Veteran soap actor A Martinez (Eduardo Hernandez) sat down with Serial Scoop at a recent fan event celebrating “Days of Our Lives” 50th Anniversary. When asked if he could give a sneak peek of what fans can expect in Eduardo’s storylines, Martinez replied, “Seeking atonement.” But could A Martinez be friends with Eduardo Hernandez in real life?

While Martinez believes Eduardo is an interesting man, he doesn’t believe he is the kind of guy that would make a very good friend. “I’m not sure we’d be really good friends. {Eduardo] is so damaged, such a problematic creature. It might get tiring after a while.” But A does believe that it’s possible for Hernandez to be a charming character. “Eduardo has a certain level of charm that’s starting to come out, but there’s always a sense with him, that in the center there’s nothing.”

Working with co-head writer Josh Griffith has been wonderful Martinez says. The worked together when Griffith was a writer for the NBC soap opera “Santa Barbara,” where A portrayed Cruz Castillo. It has also been a pleasure working with “DOOL” co-executive producer Albert Alarr. A Martinez revealed that Alarr is a very hands-on producer – he is out there on the set with the actors just about every day.

If A could portray any other character on “Days of Our Lives” who would it be? Martinez doesn’t hesitate to answer – Chad DiMera – but exactly the way Billy Flynn does. But the iconic actor isn’t sure he’d be able to pull that off. “The kind of miraculous stuff [Billy] does, it’s pretty special.”

Social media has given A an opportunity to interact with “DOOL” fans and enjoys it very much. Martinez believes it is a blessing because it gives him an opportunity to explain his character in real time rather than wait for an interview to be published in a magazine.
