‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) RUMORS: Is Former Y&R Actor Chris McKenna Headed for Salem?

The “Days of Our Lives” rumor mill suggests that Chris McKenna (ex-Det. Mark Harding, Y&R) may be cast as Andrew Donavan. Moving from CBS to NBC shouldn’t be a problem for the handsome television star. He starred opposite Katherine Heigl on the now-canceled series “State of Affairs.”

According to Daytime Confidential McKenna could be cast as Andrew Donovan, son of Kim Donavan (Patsy Pease) and Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy). This may stir up a lot of trouble for his mom! Back in the 1980s Kim had a hot and heavy affair with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) – a Greek mobster. No paternity test was ever performed and Shane and Kim raised their family, which includes oldest daughter Eve Donovan (Kassie DePavia) and little sister Theresa Donavan (Jen Lilley) without any thought that Andrew was not Shane’s biological son.

Long-time “DOOL” fans know not only was Victor Kiriakis a bad boy with Kim Donovan, he also had “a thing” with Andrew’s Grammy – Caroline Brady (Peggy McKay) – and the child born of that affair was Bo Brady (Peter Reckell). As if that was complicated enough, Andrew’s younger sister Theresa has a baby boy with Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) – Victor’s grandson! Confused much?

If TPTB at “Days of Our Lives” are planning on bringing Andrew back to Salem, Chris McKenna is as close to perfect for the role as it gets. And, not only would the Donovan family be reunited, it would be a real life reunion for former “One Live To Live” (OLTL) cast members McKenna and Kassie DePavia. Chris was cast as Joey Buchanan from 1990 until 1994. A victim of Soap Opera Aging Syndrome, McKenna was replaced by Nathan Fillion (Castle) as much older Joey.

Since leaving “One Life to Live” and joining “The Young and the Restless” Chris has kept busy with roles on such primetime shows as “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” and also on the ABC series “Castle” alongside Fillion who replaced him on “One Life To Live”!

“The Young and the Restless” loss could be “Days of Our Lives” gain if TPTB decide to cast Chris McKenna as Andrew Donovan. Here’s hoping! What do you think?
