“Days of Our Lives” (DOOL) Interview: Stephen Nichols Excited To Be Back As Steve “Patch” Johnson – Teases Upcoming Storylines

“Days of Our Lives” (DOOL) Stephen Nichols has returned to reprise his role as Steve “Patch” Johnson and the actor says it’s great to be back on the set and feels as if there’s a renewed energy in the relationships between the actors as well as the characters they portray Get ready for some amazing adventure storylines!

Not only are viewers happy to have Stephen back at “Days of Our Lives” he is just as excited as they are. He told Soap Opera Digest – October 19 through October 25 – “what has excited me most about being back is the atmosphere on the set.” Eventually Patch is going to realize his partner in adventure – Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) – desperately needs help if he’s going to make it out of his current situation alive. Something just doesn’t feel right to Patch and even though he wants to put his family first he’s got to find Bo.

But Steve Johnson will need to pay attention to what he’s doing in his search and rescue mission. “Steve’s going to need to be mindful of his safety if he’s going to make it back to Kayla and Joey in one piece” says his portrayer. “DOOL” history reminds us that Patch Johnson grew up with an abusive and/or absentee father and he is determined to make sure this doesn’t happen to his own family. “This drives him to right the wrongs and try again.”

“What has been the best part of being back on-set at “Days of Our Lives”? “There is a collaborative spirit now the likes of which I haven’t seen since the ‘80s. Just you wait. [It’ll be] high stakes galore!” the actor promises. Get ready for some high octane physical action! “There will be a lot of physical action, which at times can be hard on the body.” Nichols and Reckell do their own stunts and both have gotten a few injuries on set.

Can Patch come back to Salem and reclaim the love and trust he once shared with Kayla Brady or is it really the end for this couple? Can Steve be the father that Joey needs? According to Nichols his “Days of Our Lives character is focused on his family. “He was lost for a time, [and] trust has to be re-established.” That may not be an easy task for the adventure junkie. Years ago Patch may not have known how much running around the world with Bo affected his family – how much it got in the way of their relationships.
