‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) Interview: Peter Reckell Talks Bo’s Return, Hope Romance, Where He’s Been and What’s Ahead

“Days of our Lives” star, Peter Reckell returns to the NBC daytime drama this week. He returned for Bo and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) reunion, disclosure about where he has been he’s been all this time and revealed what is ahead of Bo on “DOOL.” With the 50th anniversary episode just two months away, what lies ahead for Peter Reckell on the soap?

Reckell noted that the way Bo’s exit was written was awkward at best. “It just didn’t work. She moved on but was holding on his memory. They had to bring Bo back and tell the fans what happened to him while he was gone. It just made perfect sense,” Peter Reckell said. He said that when Bo and Hope meet again, face-to-face, it is a powerful scene. They have history and are the definition of a soap super couple.

He revealed one of the main reasons he returned to the show was due to the writer change. He praised writers Dena Higley and Josh Griffith. He noted the writers had focused the storylines on family and relationships. He noted that the writers were open to using his input for the storylines on the show. He isn’t sure if they used his idea, but he was happy to help steer them in the right direction.

He noted that he had not kept up with the show daily, since his focus was being a father. He didn’t catch up before arriving at the set. He said it worked out better that way too because Bo has been out of touch for a long time. He kept in touch on social media with his fan base. One reason for his return was to give him fans a proper closure to the terrible way Bo was previously written off the show.

Peter explained that Bo was a down-to-earth character, and that is why fans connected with him over the years. He noted that the first day on the set, he was face down in the dirt while being held in captivity and the next he was riding a motorcycle connecting with his long-lost family. He laughed, “It rang true to Bo’s personality.”

He teased that Bo and Hope will have a reunion, and it is worth the wait. He also noted that Bo would ride a motorcycle and utter the words, “Fancy Face” at some point. He isn’t sure whether it will be the first week, but fans can rest assured; it will happen. Are you excited about Peter’s return as Bo on “DOOL”?
