‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Jill Revives Past Wars – Lauren Stands In For Katherine

Jill’s (Jess Walton) fight with Lauren (Tracey Bregman) is vicious on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Their escalating personal war easily evokes memories of infamous battles Jill and Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) had during Y&R’s golden age. Although it could also be reasonably argued that Mrs. Fenmore Atkinson is actually fighting her own demons again.

In May it will be four years since the greatest actor who ever appeared on Y&R passed away. The permanent hole left in the cast will never be filled, just as Cooper’s indelible performances will never be forgotten by the fans. Fictionally speaking, Jill made peace with Katherine before she died. However, recent events seemingly caused Jill’s old wounds to be opened, which is much to Lauren’s current chagrin.

Fenmore’s hasn’t been doing well, as viewers came to know in recent weeks. Lauren tried to solicit a silent partner and had two good prospects, but Gloria (Judith Chapman) sabotaged both men. Jack (Peter Bergman) also basically bought off the second prospect and then made a deal with Lauren, which Mrs. Fenmore Baldwin skillfully negotiated.

Viewers might have forgotten, since this portion of the story hasn’t been spoken of in awhile, that Jill sued her sister for half of Fenmore’s after learning that they were related. Using that litigiously gained right, Jill then invoked her corporate muscle when she accidentally learned about the merger with Jabot.

Jill told Lauren that she was hurt by not having been consulted, which was a valid point. But Lauren moved forward anyway, which she may come to regret.

Deep Genoa City devotees vividly recall the hateful relationship Jill and Katherine had. While they eventually came to care about each other and their relationship on this earth ended under generally loving terms, Jill’s mixed feelings about her all-time nemesis reemerged this week.

Opting to put Brash and Sassy up for sale in order to raise capital to buy into Jack’s newly obtained 49 percent of Fenmore’s is a vindictive move. That’s exactly the type of response Jill would elicit if Katherine were still alive and doing something that she didn’t like.

Somewhere in Heaven Katherine is looking down and urging Jill not to be so petty. But will she hear the ‘Duchess’ before it’s too late? Considering Jill’s current mood, she likely would have used the ‘Old Goat’ nickname in that last sentence. How she tags Lauren is yet to be told.
