The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Victor’s Wrath Unchecked – Family Suffers Again

Victor (Eric Braeden) has clearly never matured on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Oh, there are periods where he behaves like a normal human being. But his actions in recent months once again underscore what a terrible plight his family members face as they try to live out their lives in Genoa City.

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) has enjoyed many material possessions and substantial elitist privilege since she first met Victor all those years ago at The Bayou. But every spouse deserves consistency. And on that point, Victor has often failed.

Her numerous battles with alcoholism can not be cited as Victor having evidenced some excessive generosity of spirit. A proper blend of science and compassionate common sense views that predilection as genetically based, but also as a free will issue.

Yes, Nikki chose the bottle based upon her body chemistry and impulse. But she also beat booze by embracing proven recovery treatment methods that included reconditioning of her mental strength. Meanwhile, Victor continues to demonstrate a purposeful preference for vindictiveness.

Some may choose to believe his actions represent total derangement, while others who know this character understand that Victor’s plotted choices reflect individual choice. He’s not an animal, but a human with a soul. Or is that simply the suspension of disbelief theory being applied?

And then there’s Nick (Joshua Morrow). The first-born Newman son and equal recipient of Victor’s current wrath.

Yes, his punch aside of the ‘Moustache’ was wrong. However, that first act served to make Victor’s retaliatory hook to Nick’s face in the Newman Towers’ garage double diabolical. Plus there was the authorized release of Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) recording to the world. A total smear job.

No normal father needs to prove his physical dominance over his child, or subsequently kick him, Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) out of the Tack House. Nevertheless loyal Y&R viewers continue to hope that all Newman family members will be able to protect themselves as the ‘Black Knight’ continues to roam like a beast in this fictional world.
