Vickie (Amelia Heinle) is used to blaming Billy (Jason Thompson) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. There were many instances in the past where she was right to do so. However, the person who’s currently responsible for major personal and serious business problems is Miss Victoria Newman this time around.
Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy. Oh, how easy it is to blame Billy. But after she’s had a chance to look at her undeniably pretty face in that fashionable Brash and Sassy compact mirror, Vickie will see who screwed her business and her life up.
Business matters can be addressed first, as they are much less subjective. The Professional Hockey League deal was Billy’s idea. However, Vickie instantly okay’d it’s approval and agreed to the rushed California marketing tie-in because she wanted to score points with her ex-husband.
Viewers haven’t forgotten that she’s also behaved erratically during Jill’s (Jess Walton) short tenure as Brash and Sassy’s owner. This isn’t to say that other people, including Cane (Daniel Goddard) in particular, aren’t also in the wrong. But Vickie took her dad’s advice and bought this company. She’s in charge and holds responsibility.
Normally, Victor’s (Eric Braeden) namesake would have done her due diligence before partnering with one of the four major sports leagues. Then, if Vickie found that union to be strong, she would have taken the lead on a financially risky marketing push in, of all places, Hollywoodland. Not this time.

Okay, now the messy personal matters can be considered. Normally, Billy would be chasing Vickie. But, by golly (yes, golly is still a word that can be used in this crass world) Vickie sent more mixed messages to him than a teenager who was trying to bait the high school quarterback into a prom invitation. No wonder Billy became fed up and sought Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) to likely become soul mate number 2.

She can yell all she wants. She can stare down from her perch if she likes. She can believe in her mind that Billy is this, that and the other. But Vickie, Billy isn’t the problem. It’s you.
