Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) isn’t Snow White on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Instead, she’s a scammer whose ongoing attempts to go legit haven’t fooled devoted fans. Her current actions should be viewed through a measured lens. Plus Chelsea’s long-standing denial of Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) confirms her lack of a developed conscience.

Why doesn’t Chelsea want to have contact with her first-born child? That question raises another important one. What empty part of Chelsea’s character was revealed when she chose not to fight to keep Johnny a number of years ago?

Johnny came into this world through Chelsea. She delivered that baby boy after Victor (Eric Braeden) paid her to entrap Billy (then played by Billy Miller), which is putting it nicely. She drugged Mr. Abbott and conceived his child.
Billy was married to Victoria (Amelia Heinle) at the time. Victor was attempting to thwart ‘Villy’ by using Chelsea, which served to introduce this character to the audience.
Today, Chelsea wants to hunt down Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) down because of what happened to Adam (Justin Hartley). In order to further her pursuit she asked Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) to use his contact base to obtain any available information. Through that effort Y&R fans learned more about Mrs. Newman’s past life.
Jordan and Chelsea knew each other a number of years ago when they were both involved in disreputable economic pursuits. They’ve agreed to maintain that mutual confidence in order to keep their shared past buried. Combine that latest cracked nugget with the knowledge Chelsea continues to withhold from Nick (Joshua Morrow) about Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen).
Rewind to last summer, when Rasmus was the surname Chelsea and Adam were given as they were preparing to leave Genoa City. But ‘Chadam’ never had the chance to use their fake passports because Adam was apparently killed.
Back then Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) and Adam were Chelsea’s top concerns. Leaving town forever would have meant never seeing Johnny again, not that she does now. But viewers get the point.
All apologists needn’t offer their so-called explanations about Chelsea’s heart-wrenching decision where Johnny was concerned. All evidence ever since proves that she thought of the human being she gave birth to as a means to an end. That isn’t the mark of a lady. It’s a blotch on one’s character that could be tagged with one apt adjective, shady.
