The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Scott’s Secret Life Revealed – Sharon In Dangerous Territory Again

So Scott (Daniel Hall) doesn’t appear to be a journalist after all on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Christine’s (Lauralee Bell) unexpected meeting with him this week allowed viewers to see this character’s actual back story. Meanwhile, Sharon (Sharon Case) seems to have connected herself to another government employee whose work is dangerous.

Genetically speaking, Chris is linked to Scott through his father. The late Scott Grainger Senior (Peter Barton) and Chris shared the same mother (Jessica Blair, played by Rebecca Street), which made him her half-brother. Yes, soap history can be complicated. Ancient storyline excavation allowed Scott, Junior to become something other than what he initially seemed to be.

Dylan (Steve Burton) entered the Witness Protection Program earlier this year. That forced an end to the short-lived ‘Shylan’ pairing. Sharon’s quick bounce back from that dramatic life change is a stretch, considering this character’s past history. However, tenured Sharon fans are happy that Y&R decided to allow this character to project strength instead of the deeply over-written victim she’s often been portrayed as.

Scott was carefully presented to the viewers as a heroic journalist, who risked his life to tell the stories the world must know. Of course savvy media consumers know that many (if not all) corporate outlets choose what the news will be and routinely present truly life-altering events from angles that fit decision-makers political ideology. And that last factual sentence is only seen as opinion by media climate deniers, or the eternally naive.

So why did the government apparently allow Scott to remain kidnapped? When that happened Victor (Eric Braeden) came to his rescue, or so Scott believed. Would it be plausible to consider that a monied man like the ‘Moustache’ accessed his bought and paid for government connections to secure Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) son’s safety?

It’s only cynical to believe that various people have hidden connections if those links don’t exist. But when proven as real, the cynics are seen as wise in retrospect. Of course all who doubt Scott’s authenticity should also withhold judgment, as his career efforts may have produced just results to-date. Whether Sharon will see it that way is another story.
