Just exactly who does Queen Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) think she is on ‘The Young and the Restless’? Mrs. Newman incredibly told King Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) that he wasn’t welcome in the home that his blood, deviousness, sweat, dishonesty and tears paid for. The lout heard his wife’s shrieks, yelled back at her, wagged his finger and then shuffled off to the guest house.
By all rights and guilty soapy pleasure, Victor should have thrown ‘Mrs. Wiggins’ out. Seasoned viewers know that reference was to a laugh-out-loud character the great Carol Burnett once created for her CBS’ variety show. But Victor agreed to indefinitely relocate to another section of the ranch property. Yes, he allowed himself to be emasculated again.
‘Picky Nikki’ decided to offer her claimed soul mate zero ounces of compassion after she learned that the ‘Moustache’ recruited ‘Kooky Chloe’ (Elizabeth Hendrickson) to frame Adam (Justin Hartley) for the invented murder of Constance Bingham (Sally Kellerman). While that decision played out tragically, until Y&R decides to resurrect the Adam character (again), how exactly did Victor’s actions impact the Queen or her two-pronged court?
Little Lord Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) always has plenty to say about his father. In this storyline, sonny boy is the one who blew his father’s cover and then ran to tell mommy. Petite Princess Victoria (Amelia Heinle) was quickly brought up to speed and also agreed to ostracize the man she’s sporadically worshiped since Heather Tom originally wore her face.
Victor advised his wife of the moment that he wasn’t going to allow anyone, including her, to sully (no, not Christian, Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) the Newman name. Nikki still knows who butters her bread, but is taking a different approach in responding to Victor’s bad behavior time. Basically, she’s given the fabled ‘Dark Knight’ a kiddie-like time out.
An engaging take has been offered to the viewers in this instance. Y&R hasn’t split ‘Niktor’, but this enduring couple also appears nowhere near reconciliation. Spring and summer episodes should prove delightfully delicious as a result.
