‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Nick Takes Chance On Love – Chelsea Still Holds Paternity Secret

Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t know it, but he’s being burned on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Choosing to take a chance on loving Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) means that he’s overcome trust issues and is willing to emotionally invest again. But ‘Chick’ appears destined for major conflict or permanent dissolution because of the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity secret.

He was very methodical in his choice this time around. Feeling betrayed by Sharon (Sharon Case) many times during their relationships and initially having betrayed her trust by becoming involved with Phyllis (then played by Michelle Stafford) in the distant past, Nick’s view of love is conditioned. Sage (Kelly Sullivan) helped to adjust that reality, but then she was taken from the earth.

Christian’s perceived death was infinitely compounded by Sage’s tragic demise. After learning that a paternity revelation led to his wife’s car accident, it was completely understandable that Nick needed time to heal. Chelsea helped in that process and their connection grew organically.

Viewers appear to have mixed views about this particular couple being together. That’s due in part to modern information sourcing which allows Y&R fans to be aware of significant details regarding how ‘Chick’ was created by the last writing regime and apparently has been greenlighted by the current people who are in charge.

It seems certain, based upon this character’s history, that Nick will blame Chelsea for the role she’s played in concealing Christian’s true paternity from him. He’ll likely see her agreement with Adam’s (Justin Hartley) wishes as reason enough to end their relationship.

Soap opera storylines take time to unfold, due to the five-shows-a-week grind that generally plays out year-round. One of the exceptions to that rule just passed, meaning the period during the annual college basketball playoffs that begin in March.

Whether spring brings the second Christian shoe drop isn’t known. All connected issues appear to need more marination time. Whenever pay day arrives Chelsea won’t truly deserve Nick’s wrath. But he’s a Newman and they routinely play the blame game.
