Lily (Christel Khalil) did something interesting on ‘The Young and the Restless‘ this week. She immediately told Cane (Daniel Goddard) what happened with the stalker and that Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood) slept overnight on their couch as a result. Mrs. Ashby’s words in that scene were well written on a number of levels.
B-rated horror movies often write main characters away from common sense. Fictional personas make intentionally bad choices in order to concoct conflict. Smart drama flows naturally from realistic circumstances and the interesting, but varied choices people make in their lives.

Thankfully for Lily, Jordan arrived at her Genoa City Athletic Club suite when he did. Doing so neutralized Don (Alexander Carroll), a fan who insisted on taking a photo (cheekily called a selfie in this era) with her. However that stalker’s obsessive behavior later led him to loom outside of the Ashby residence.

Jordan again proved the hero when he pulled Don’s camera from his hands as he was peering in at Lily on her sofa. It’s fair to wonder if Y&R invented the stalker scenario to allow Lily and Jordan to bond and later develop a romantic relationship.
With whatever might happen in the future, Lily told Cane, Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Colin (Tristan Rogers), who were all present in the living room, what transpired. Her inclusion of the information about Jordan’s assistance and him crashing on the couch neutralized Colin’s earlier prod to Cane about an overnight house guest.
Lesser writers could have invented a situation where Lily justified withholding information about the matter from Cane due to the pressure he’s been under lately. That would have purposely created a stretched situation where Cane would be suspicious of Jordan and Lily’s connection, sans crucial information about the stalker.

Cane was given the facts upon his return from Japan. Doing so allowed the questions he has about his night with Juliet (Laur Allen) to lead ‘Lane’s’ potentially developing issues, which also makes sense.
