The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Kevin Right Choice As Bella’s Father – Good Guys Finish First

Kevin (Greg Rikaart) was emotionally overwhelmed when he learned Bella (Cali May Kinder) was his daughter this week on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Finally, after all these years Y&R wrote Kevin as a winner. This character has worked hard to reform his life and is primed to provide the type of stability Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) daughter needs.

This was an interesting storyline decision that affects the lives of many Genoa City characters. Kevin immediately bolsters his already positive image. Genuine redemption, evoking memories of how his brother Michael (Christian Le Blanc) once turned his life around in the 1990’s.

Of course the Baldwin family will be fully supportive of Kevin and his child. But imagine the many great moments that can now be created by having Gloria (Judith Chapman) hold grandmother status. Another angle has been drawn to keep that great recurring character on the show indefinitely.

Interplay between both grandmothers should be dynamic actually, as Esther (Kate Linder) surely won’t be shut out by Kevin. Linder is a beloved member of the cast and one of the main links to Katherine (Jeanne Cooper). Esther’s light-hearted kookiness is always a pleasure to digest, along with her health food creations.

Now that Billy (Jason Thompson) knows Bella isn’t his child, he’ll be free to pair with Phyllis (Gina Tognoni). ‘Philly’ reunited again unexpectedly. No Bella means that Billy and Phyllis are driving through a green light to relationshipland.

Many viewers were holding their breath where this paternity reveal was concerned, as Billy already has a messy life even by soap standards. Fans didn’t want to see someone who already has multiple families gain a daughter that he wasn’t even aware of.

Considering the natural order, it’s also good that Kevin proved to be Bella’s father. He and Chloe were together romantically before she departed for California three years ago. Her choice to have stolen Billy’s DNA sample and then to have created a child was misguided, both in her mind and in the writer’s room of the past regime. Thankfully, the test results confirmed the right dad.
