The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Hilary Positioned As Power Broker – GC Buzz and Hashtag Partnership Telegraphed

Hilary (Mishael Morgan) only wanted one thing in her divorce settlement on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Devon (Bryton James) agreed to cede full control of GC Buzz to her and with that the former Mrs. Hamilton became a power broker in Genoa City.

Manipulation takes many forms. There is a provable difference between journalists and ideologues. Those who seek facts, regardless of where truth takes them are journalists. Those who start with a personal or political agenda and work backwards to choose what the so-called news will and won’t be are willing manipulators, not journalists. They’re hacks who hope to shape public opinion, rather than put information into the arena for digestion.

Victor (Eric Braeden) paid Hilary to document Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) charity benefit concert. Hilary and Howard (David Faustino) went beyond the pale and recorded a family confrontation on private (under)grounds, then received Victor’s blessing to air it across the globe via the internet.

Purposeful elements of the so-called media inject their view of reality into the world. At the same time, powerful individuals use modern methods of slanted information sharing to affect the masses.

Devon initially intended to transform GC Buzz from a digital rag to a news source. Hilary sees the G as the first letter in gossip and the C as the first letter in control. Leveraging her love into control over a website and now, influential television show she currently stands as one of Genoa City’s more influential personas. That was and will remain her goal.

Scott (Daniel Hall) has been tasked by Victor to develop Hashtag as a digital media platform. Savvy viewers already see the wink. Newman Enterprises will somehow press GC Buzz into Hashtag, thus making Hilary a corporate shill.

That development would bring a disruptive force under Victor’s umbrella. But he’s long preferred pitting people against each other, as long as power is advanced as a result. Yes, Hilary’s future might not be what she, or others envisioned.
