‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Devon’s Accident Offers Opportunity – Hilary and Lily Bond

A life-threatening situation brought two foes together on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Yes, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) and Lily (Christel Khalil) actually began consoling each other when Devon (Bryton James) went into convulsions in Genoa City Memorial Hospital.

While Stitch (Sean Carrigan) remains uncertain about the fate of James’ character, this feels like a storyline that’s built for the long haul, instead of a write-off tearjerker.

Hilary and Lily have been at each other’s throats since shortly after Ann Turner (Hilary’s birth name) arrived (2013) in Wisconsin bent on revenge against the Winters’ family. Lily still has every right to distrust her sister-in-law, who used to be her mother-in-law. Newer viewers may not know that Hilary was married to Neil (Kristoff St. John), Lily’s father, a short time ago. Hilary broke those nuptials by forming a relationship with Neil’s (adopted) son Devon.

Mr. Hamilton should never have allowed himself to shift his ever-erratic emotions to the gas pedal of the sports car he won at the New Year’s Eve charity auction. But he did and the consequences were devastating.

Many people would have died after crashing a car at a speed that was nearing 150 miles per hour, per the odometer closeup shot. But this is a soap opera, where many personalities are indestructible.

Assuming Devon recovers, Mrs. Hamilton seems hardly likely to transform herself into a dutiful wife. However, this incident will surely resonate and impact ‘Hevon’s’ relationship in some meaningful manner. This pair loves each other, but must change their destructive patterns.

One clear opportunity the current drama offers is for Hilary and Lily to reevaluate how they interact with each other. They won’t become best friends, but both ladies should agree to not provoke each other moving forward.

That reasonable compromise would be best for all involved and surely would help Devon’s state of mind during his period of recovery. Hilary and Lily’s familial relationship might be in a better place by that point as well.
