Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) didn’t want to believe Nick (Joshua Morrow) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She completely understood how Kevin (Greg Rikaart) was feeling after his remarriage plans were dashed and he’d learned that his intended wife admitted to killing Adam (Justin Hartley). Yes, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) was a monstrous friend.
The lead-in to Y&R’s second greatest mystery in recent years played out this week. Of course the greatest mystery involved what happened to Michael Muhney’s version of Adam after that infamous SUV crash in January 2014. Hartley was later recast and the Adam arc was revived in November of that year.

Nick was confronted by Chelsea after he’d arranged a sting operation with Sharon’s (Sharon Case) help. The bachelorette party he volunteered to throw at The Underground was a ruse. Nick’s plan was to allow Chloe to drink herself into oblivion and then hopefully have her confess what she’d done to Adam. However, Chloe’s subsequent liquid condition didn’t cause her guard to drop.
Chloe told Chelsea that Nick pressured her for answers about Adam. Chelsea confronted Nick, refusing to believe that her friend could have killed her husband. Thankfully that incident didn’t dissuade Nick from following his gut, following the tracking device app on his smartphone and locating Chloe at the landing strip with Victor (Eric Braeden) of all people.

Back at Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) estate, Chelsea found Adam’s wedding ring in the top drawer of Chloe’s old bedroom. Reeling, she opted not to question the bride-to-be. Instead, Chelsea slipped the band to Chloe during the ceremony Father Todd (Corbin Bernsen) was conducting. That sparked an emotional bash upstairs and a blow to Chelsea’s head with a lamp.
Some viewers can likely relate to Chelsea’s plight. She was initially very cautious in reviving her friendship with Chloe. She believed that troubled woman had worked through the darkness and found inner peace. Chelsea welcomed Chloe and Bella into the home where Adam once lived and fully supported ‘Khloe’s’ remarriage. But the former con artist was played for a fool by Miss Mitchell, leaving her and other affected parties deeply damaged.
