The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Cane Temporarily Avoids Exposure – Bribery Leads To Shakedown

Cane (Daniel Goddard) paid a videographer to doctor a behind-the-Brash-and-Sassy-scenes recording on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Later, that shady character shook Cane down for more money in order to remain silent. Of course the personal slam referenced in the last sentence could have referred to Mr. Ashby as well, since he’s been acting out of character for months.

Yes, longtime viewers Cane and Billy (Jason Thompson) have swapped personas. Both transformations have been created by Y&R’s writer’s room to offer viewer’s a different take on each fictional man. Cane has officially become a truly bad guy, while Billy actually has no hidden agendas.

Okay, Billy and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) didn’t create their relationship in the smoothest manner. However, they’ve been honest with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Jack (Peter Bergman) who are their respective significant others. As for ‘Billy-boy’s’ current dilemma, there would be no trouble with the Professional Hockey League if Cane hadn’t orchestrated this video scheme.

Paying that unprofessional camera man created the results Cane wanted. But there’s no way of knowing if that guy will tell all, or send a link with the missing footage to Vickie at some point in the future. So Cane will have to live with that enduring threat and the stain on his conscience, if there is one.

Viewers also haven’t forgotten that Cane blamed Juliet (Laur Allen) during the fallout that resulted from Billy apparently having encouraged hockey players to bet on the Final. Brash and Sassy’s newly hired marketing head didn’t do anything purposely wrong. The entire production was rushed and she believed she’d received confirmation from the League to use the shot footage.

This can’t possibly end well for Cane long-term. When all is eventually revealed he’s likely to lose his job. He’ll only have himself to blame if that happens.

Deep soap fans likely also think that the Juliet incident in Tokyo, Japan, will also be exposed as well, potentially ending ‘Lane’. Lily (Christel Khalil) seems certain to feel rightfully betrayed.
