‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) Sharon McAvoy (Sharon Case) arrived in Genoa City in 1994 with her mother Doris Collins (Karen Hensel). Doris was wheelchair bound after she had gone searching for a young teenage Sharon and ended up in a car accident, paralyzing her. There was no mention of her father, at least until now, we have learned that Walt Willey (best known as Jackson Montgomery, All My Children).
Currently on The Young and the Restless Sharon is struggling to keep her marriage together with Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), who has been fighting his inner demons ever since he learned that the little boy he thought was his was in fact his brother, Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) son with his late wife Sage (Kelly Sullivan). Dylan has decided to take a risky undercover job this past week and with his mental state it doesn’t look like it will be a happy ending for them.
Sharon has been a character Y&R fans either love or hate, there doesn’t seem to be any in between. She has done a lot of harmful things blaming it on her bipolar disorder, and for the most part it has been the perfect crutch for her unacceptable behavior but people have grown weary of it including her ex-husband, Nick and the Newman family.
One has to wonder if things would have ended up completely different for Sharon had she had parents and family to rely on. She was virtually left to the wolves when she stayed in Genoa City without a proper support system. She thought she had people to lean on in her times of need but The Young and the Restless fans have seen time and time again, Sharon’s support system was mostly just the Newman family, and they would only support her when it suited their agenda.
Now that it has been revealed that Walt Willey will be arriving as her father, how do you feel about that? It is definitely going to be interesting to see the soap veteran join Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman).
How will Sharon deal with having her father around, she could have used a father a long time ago. Will he be the one to finally force her to accept the things she has done head-on and how will their history affect their renewed relationship?
Please take this poll and let us know if you are excited to see Sharon’s immediate family expanding. Be sure to tune into CBS’ The Young and the Restless (Y&R) to watch for Walt Willey’s arrival and how it could change the dynamic for Sharon and her loved ones.
