Jack (Peter Bergman) is a scoundrel (again) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. All remnants of nice Jack are gone, as he responded coldly to ‘Philly’ advising him that they were back together and later advised Cane (Daniel Goddard) to sabotage Billy at Brash and Sassy.
Meanwhile, Jack is keeping Gloria (Judith Chapman) close by. She’s currently serving various purposes for this lout. Basically he needs a dirty player to help him fight in the mud. Whatever personal connection they have appears to merely be a means to end for both participants, though it does seem like ‘Glack’ could develop into a real couple at some point.

Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) had their revived relationship unexpectedly revealed when Vickie (Amelia Heinle) saw them embracing inside a Jabot elevator. Vickie’s placement outside of that location was orchestrated by Cane, who wanted her to catch them.
Cane later queried Vickie as to why she wanted to keep Billy employed. Vickie explained that she could separate her business and personal life. Later, she also backed Billy’s suggestion, instead of his, regarding the wording in a press release.
Jack and Cane sat aside of each other at the Genoa City Athletic Club bar in a subsequent scene in the same episode. After telling Cane that Billy would eventually fall into his old pattern and screw things up at work, Jack decided to take matters further. He openly told Cane to setup Billy’s downfall.
So viewers learned once again that Jack is willing to cross any moral line to attack his own brother. Apparently that gives him a twisted sense of joy, since he hasn’t scored a real victory over Victor (Eric Braeden) recently.
Cane hasn’t been satisfied at work in awhile. Add to that feeling, his inability to prevent Vickie from buying Brash and Sassy outright from Jill (Jess Walton) and his misguided endeavor with Juliet (Laur Allen) in Japan. That’s why he likely doesn’t realize that he’ll be putting his job at risk by doing Jack’s bidding.

Will Mr. Abbott bail Cane out if all goes south? Unless Mr. Ashby gets a Jabot job offer in writing, he shouldn’t count on it. But considering Cane’s erratic behavior recently, viewers seem certain to see him pursue this misguided course.
