The current war began when Victor (Eric Braeden) brought Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) back to town, triggering a tragic chain of events ending in the death of Adam Newman (Justin Hartley). Yes, Victor has once again been found to be culpable in a horrible crime. Particularly egregious is the fact that the blood on his hands is that of his own son, Adam.

So it’s understandable that when his wife Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and kids Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) found out the latest awful truth about The Moustache, they hit the roof. The spawn wanted to throw daddy dearest back in the clink (it’s a long story) but Nikki’s response was the most shocking of all.

Nikki vowed that Victor would remain out of prison! But in exchange for their silence, Nikki told Victor that he would have to accept a fate worse than death: from this moment forward he is dead to his family. Nikki The Hammer meant business: she informed the family to keep up appearances in public but banned Victor from the bedroom as well as family events.

The matriarch’s motivation comes from wanting to protect the family legacy, not Victor. But something in Nikki has changed. Her ferocity is fresh and resolute. Nikki is acting like a woman who has nothing to lose, especially when she told Victor, “I’m in charge!” Victor senses the change, too, leading him to escape town for a while.

When Victor returns will he find that the volcano in Genoa City has gone dormant? Or will he find his giant portrait staring back at him from the tack room wall, right beneath his new bed?
