DAYS OF OUR LIVES
The NBC soap opera lost 45,000 total viewers compared to last week and dropped to 309,000 viewers in women ages 18 to 49. One has to wonder if viewership fell because long time DOOL fans have seen a very similar storyline that is currently happening. Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) has been abducted and stashed away as lunatic Hattie Adams roams through Salem pretending to be her. The other story that may have left fans conflicted is Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) choosing to be with an injured Abigail Devereaux (Marci Miller) and ending things with Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus).
GENERAL HOSPITAL
The ABC daytime drama lost 47,000 total viewers compared to the previous week but continues to stay fairly strong among female viewers aged 18-49, where their numbers are at 378,000, only losing about 1,000 viewers in this age group. It seemed to be a rather slow week in Port Charles as Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) was given his blessing and proposed to Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig); but the joyous occasion was short-lived when Dr. O (Kathleen Gati) made a play, forcing Hayden to commit some dastardly things, ultimately vanishing without a trace. On the plus side, Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) seems to be finding romance finally and fans are seeing more of Mac (John J. York) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) – although we may have seen more than we bargained for recently.
THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
This CBS soap opera has hit the ground running this week with a massive jump in total viewership; increasing by 60,000 viewers from the previous week. B&B now stands at 395,000 (up 11,000) viewers among 18-49 year old women. There is no doubt that bringing back Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) was a huge hit with long time and new viewers, but this particular week really revolved about Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and his lies, attempting to destroy Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and steal her prime real estate. When it came to the romance department, fans were delighted to see that Katie Logan (Heather Tom) had decided she was possibly willing to open her heart to new things and people; one of them being Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks), her former step-son!
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
CBS’ Y&R continues to rock the ratings with the highest viewership of 4,244,000; increasing by 10,000 since the week before. It also dominates the women viewers, aged 18-49 group as well with a total of 479,000 women, rising by 26,000. They certainly must be doing something right, no? Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) continues to worry about ex-wife, Victoria Newman (Ameila Heinle) and he isn’t alone, as her sister Abby (Melissa Ordway) also notices the erratic and reckless behavior. Victoria may have found a new man, but it remains to be seen if he will be good for her or not. Meanwhile Mariah (Camryn Grimes) seems to be caught between two people who have stolen her heart, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) who is currently involved with Mariah’s brother, Noah Newman (Robert Adamson).
