General Hospital POLL: Carly’s Past Sins Or Nelly’s Present Lies – Who is Worse? VOTE!

Recently we found Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) being slapped with a bit of Karma. ABC spoilers tell us It seems her sins have caught up to her in the form of a so-called innocent little girl with big plans for revenge. The question is, whose sins are worse Carly or Nell Hayes (Chloe Lanier); and is there room for redemption and forgiveness. Let’s compare the two women and you be the judge.

Carly Corinthos

In April of 1996, Carly Roberts (Sarah Joy Brown) AKA Caroline Benson arrives in Port Charles bound and determined to get revenge on her Biological mother Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) for abandoning her as an infant. Port Charles had no idea the storm clouds Ms. Roberts was about to unleash. At first, Carly appears to be a nice friendly young woman who enrolls in nursing school and becomes friends with Bobbie Spencer. Bobbie, however, is totally unaware of Carly’s true identity or her plans to get even. Carly seduces Dr. Tony Jones(Brad Maule) Bobbie’s husband; eventually breaking up their marriage.

After this Carly becomes more and more self-destructive and has a one night stand with A.J. Quartermaine (Sean Kanan), and gets pregnant with his child; while Tony Jones is convinced the baby is his. She becomes involved with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and asks him to lie and say the child belongs to him. Her true identity is not discovered until her adoptive mom Virginia Benson (Lois Nettleton) comes to town in February 1998 and reveals that ‘Carly Roberts’ is really Caroline Benson.

From 1996 until 2000, Carly’s only friend in Port Charles is Jason Morgan. She is basically hated by the people of Port Charles and with good reason. She accuses Jason of kidnapping her son Michael, breaks up the relationship between Robin (Kimberly McCullough) and Jason and sleeps with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Jason’s best friend and becomes pregnant with his child. Fast forward to 2017 and Carly Corinthos has now earned a prominent position in the town of Port Charles. It has taken many years and still there are people who are not totally pleased with her, but she has redeemed herself and earned a place in proper society.

Nelle Hayes

On August 8, 2016, Nell Hayes arrives on the door steps of the Corinthos clan claiming to be the kidney donor for Joslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy). What the Corinthos family does not know is this sweet innocent girl has a vendetta against Carly Corinthos and has plans to destroy her and her family. Nell cons her way into the family by first becoming little Avery Corinthos’ (Ava and Grace Scarola) baby sitter and then personal assistant to Carly. After Morgan Corinthos’ (Bryan Craig) death the Corinthos family becomes more and more dependent on Nell.

She claims to be from Atlanta but has no friends and no family. During the time the family is grieving their sons’ death, Nell begins to put her revenge plans in place. She drugs an unsuspecting Sonny and convinces him they slept together then records their conversation regarding the ‘one night stand’. General Hospital spoilers tell us her plans seem to go awry when she finds herself falling in love with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). As Bobbie Spencer confronts Nell about her secret tryst with Sonny, Nell runs for cover straight into Michael’s arms.

It appears history has repeated itself here. Karma seems to be visiting Carly in the form of Nell Hayes.

Both came to Port Charles to seek revenge, both sought friendship from men who were all too willing to offer forgiveness, both did things which caused people to despise them and, both sought and seek redemption and forgiveness. Is it too late for Nell to be redeemed? Will she have to wait years in order to receive forgiveness, or should she just leave town now? Does she deserve Michael’s love and trust? Has Carly’s behavior over the years really earned her redemption? Is she just getting payback for what she did all those years ago? Which one is worse? Or are they the same?
