‘General Hospital’ POLL: Blake Berris Debuts As Spinelli – Could ‘GH’ Fans Accept A Permanent Recast? VOTE!

‘General Hospital’ fans were excited to hear that Bradford Anderson [Damien Spinelli] landed a role as part of story arc on the Showtime series ‘Homeland.’

That announcement came with some disappointing news. Because of a scheduling conflict filming ‘Homeland,’ Anderson would not be available to tape upcoming episodes of ‘GH.’ Anderson left TPTB in the lurch.

‘General Hospital’ executives needed to find an actor to fill in for the episodes due to air in mid-January. Blake Berris [formerly Nick Fallon, ‘Days of Our Lives’] was chosen to temporarily replace Anderson.

Understanding that ‘GH’ fans may blame TPTB, Bradford Anderson issued a statement at the time of the announcement asking ‘GH’ viewers to “be compassionate, understanding and appreciative of whatever decisions they made.”

Anderson made it very clear that the recast was made necessary because of his schedule, not by the choice of executives at ‘GH.’

Of course, there will be critical comparisons of Anderson vs. Berris in the role of Spinelli. The originator of the character acknowledged the difficulty fans may have seeing someone else portray the part.

Anderson wrote, “You will be seeing another actor playing the character of Spinelli…I, for one, find it kind of exciting.” That message sounds as if Bradford Anderson is prepared to say goodbye to Damien Spinelli.

‘GH’ spoilers tease that Berris may be a permanent recast in the recurring role. Once ‘General Hospital’ fans see Blake in the role of Spinelli will they like him enough to want him to replace Anderson permanently?

It is not known exactly how many episodes Berris filmed, but ‘General Hospital’ spoiler photos show Spinelli presiding over Maxie Jones [Kirsten Storms] and Nathan West’s [Ryan Paevey] wedding. Expect the actor to show off his acting chops sometime during the week of January 9 through January 13.
