Fantastic news for ‘Days of Our Lives’ fans! NBC has reportedly cancelled the 3rd hour of the ‘Today’ show. This was done in order to make room for Megyn Kelly’s daytime talk show. ‘DOOL’ – the network’s lone daytime drama – appears to have escaped the chopping block.
Insiders confirmed this information and Page Six exclusively reported it. Where Megyn Kelly’s talk show will be placed in the morning line up has not yet been decided. Al Roker and Tamron Hall area out in the first hour time slot and the network will now need to decide where to put Megyn’s talk show on the morning schedule.
NBC could move Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford up two hours from 11:00am to the 9:00 am time slot. Megyn’s show would then fit into the 10:00 a.m. time slot.

It is possible the network may give Megyn the hour vacated by Hall and Roker. Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb would move up an hour. Whatever the network decides, big changes are coming when Megyn makes the shift from Fox News to NBC in September.
What does the cancellation of the 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. hour of ‘Today’ mean for ‘DOOL’ fans? Simply that ‘Days of Our Lives’ is safe in its 1:00 p.m.
There had been speculation that the soap opera, which has aired on NBC for 51 years, would be cancelled to make room for former Fox News host Megyn Kelly’s new talk show.
Canceling the 3rd hour of the ‘Today’ show has ruffled quite a few feathers. It’s especially embarrassing because Al Roker tweeted congratulations a mere 24-hours before the news was handed to producers.
“Congrats to our #TODAYsTake @Todayshow 9am producers for producing the #1 morning show 7 weeks in a row!! @tamronhall and I are very blessed,” Roker tweeted on Thursday, January 26.

The insiders revealed that the producers of Hall and Roker’s first hour time slot were blindsided by the news that came down on Friday, January 27. “They [NBC] were in over their head and bit off more than they can chew when they hired Megyn,” a source told Page Six.
In addition to a daytime talk show, Megyn will also anchor a Sunday night news magazine show.
Previous reports claimed a select number of cast members had been told that ‘DOOL’ was in danger of cancellation to make room for the powerhouse television host new talk show. Right now, the soap opera isn’t going anywhere and fans will do whatever they can to ensure that it stays.
