Days Of Our Lives News: DOOL 2017 Daytime Emmy Award Nominees - Who Got Snubbed? You could hear the collective cheers and moans from the daytime television community when the Daytime Emmy Awards 2017 nominees list was released on CBS’s signature gabfest, The Talk. Who got snubbed on NBC’s only remaining soap? Here’s a list of the most egregious Daytime Emmy snubs for the outstanding cast from, “Days of Our Lives.”

Let’s start with Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category: can you believe that not one single DOOL actress is on the list? Outrageous!

At the very least, Arianne Zucker (Nicole) should have made the cut. She brought it all year long as Salem’s most fetching damsel in distress. Not only did she have to mourn the loss of her true-love, she also endured a rollercoaster romance with the Greek Freak Deimos Kiriakis (Vincent Irizarry). Zucker ran the gamut of emotions as skillfully as a NASCAR driver. Plus, with Ari leaving the show this year, an Emmy win would have been the icing on her incredible career.

Ironically, Irizarry was nominated for his role opposite Zucker. Go figure! Another name that belongs with Irizarry’s in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama category is Stephen Nichols (Patch Johnson). All year long he played the besieged family man with superb skill and nuance. First he had to deal with a crazy, psycho-ex lover who tormented his wife and son. Then he had to deal with a junior nutso, his son’s crazy girlfriend (runs in the family I guess!) The strong, sensitive, Merchant Marine Patch we all know and love was front and center most of the year, and definitely got disrespected with the Emmy omission.

And how about the absence of Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) from Emmy’s prestigious list? Sure, he was a dirtbag when he cheated on Adrienne (Judi Evans) but he convincingly brought his character full circle by supporting her through her health scare (while also making appearances on ABC’s sudser, “General Hospital”).

Likewise, Evans deserves an Emmy nod for her portrayal of a woman facing the prospect of a breast cancer diagnosis. Evans gave a powerhouse performance as a woman confronting the reality and truth of carrying the BRCA gene, after learning that her husband had cheated on her.
