‘Coronation Street’ star Sam Aston has just made a huge step with his girlfriend Briony Gardner. The soap opera star proposed to Briony in front of his co-stars and guests at a charity golf event near Worsley Park, England.
Sam managed to surprise everyone in the room by getting down on one knee and asking Briony for her hand in marriage. The moment was so special and romantic, that the entire crowd inside the room burst into cheers and applause when Briony said yes. Sam and Briony have been together for over five years.
Briony Gardner shared a photo of the proposal on her Instagram account and captioned it with, “After sharing over 5 years together, 4 Al, Andy and Sam golf days and 3 doggies, 2 hearts have now become 1 as Sam and I are…ENGAGED!! (How is it possible I can even say that out loud?!) Sam got down on one knee last night at his annual golf do and proposed in front of 250 people and my heart could burst with happiness!! (When did I get so lucky?!) I can’t wait to marry my whole world but until then, I’m just floating in this bliss called love.”
Sam and his two ‘Coronation’ co-stars Andy Whyment and Alan Halsall hold a charity golf day event every year at the Worsley Park Marriott. This year’s event helped raise funds for Reuben’s Retreat.

So far Sam hasn’t made any indications on whether or not the couple has started planning their wedding. But seeing just how much effort he put into his romantic proposal, there’s a good chance that Sam and Briony’s big day will be the soap opera celebrity wedding of the year.
