Coronation Street Spoilers: Bethany Gets Engaged To Nathan, He Tries To Persuade Friend To Sleep With Her

Fans have watched in horror as young Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has been groomed by the much older Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper). This story line has run for months, it started when he not so innocently asked to video her for an online project. This spiraled into a series of inappropriate interactions leaving the school girl smitten.

This week Bethany changes her Facebook status to engaged causing outrage in her family, she also gains a ring from her new man. The show has been receiving complaints this week as Bethany is dressed in a tight red dress and is shown drinking with Nathan’s friends, it is obvious he is trying to show her off and to make her look much older than she is. But not only this, it is said that Nathan’s evil will get much much worse when he tries to persuade his friend Nell to sleep with his newly engaged lady. Using his manipulate ways with her to get what his twisted mind wants.

The show states that this story line is to show awareness of grooming, a topic that sadly affects many young women in the UK and of course worldwide. But many fans say that the subject matter is just too dark and should not be played before watershed (In the UK mature content cannot be played before 9 pm).

What will happen now? Will Bethany snap out of her puppy love and realize that her new man is not quite what she thought? Or will she fall down the hole of many others before her and let an older man get her into a lot of trouble?
