Coronation Street News: Shobna Gulati To Be On This Year’s Big Brother?

Shobna Gulati played Sunita Alahan in Coronation street from 2001 to 20. She was most famous for being the wife of Dev Alahan (played by Jimmi Harkishin), the corner street shop owner. Sunita was once Dev’s employee working at his shop but the two grew closer when she was almost forced into an arranged marriage by her parents.

Dev let her live in a flat that he owned and she managed to escape her fate. But the two grew closer and eventually they got married and had two children, twins. Sadly, Sunita died in the Rover’s fire in 2013 which was a massively dramatic event.

Shobna has not had any role as famous as this one but she was also in the show Dinner Ladies and is a regular on Loose Women. But now there are rumours that the 50-year-old will enter the line-up of this year’s Big Brother Celebrity show.

This rumour came from a source telling the Mirror that producers have been contacting her agents in hope of booking her for the show.

It is not out of the question that an ex-soap star would appear on the show, as Stephanie Davis from Hollyoaks was on the show just last year. Big Brother can bring great publicity to stars who are no longer in the lime light but with Big Brother’s popularity decreasing, is it such a good idea for the ex-Corrie star to be going on the show?

However, we will have to wait just days before Celebrity Big Brother airs as they keep their line up very secret. If true then Shobna would make a very interesting contestant she has strong views about race and gender and has been described as an activist, a big character who would likely fill the house with drama.
