‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Monday August 22: Guard Slips into Coma, Adam Pleads Guilty – Travis Refuses to Come Back – Phyllis’ Shocks Summer

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers for Monday, August 22, tease that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) will mull over Adam’s (Justin Hartley) situation. At Jabot, Nick insists that he’s on Adam’s side. They also chat about Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) attempt to get Travis’ (Michael Roark) back in Genoa City.

Nick exits and Phyllis leaves Victoria a voicemail. She hopes Victoria tracked her “cowboy” down and talked him into returning. Meanwhile, Victoria and Travis discuss their future. As they snuggle in bed, Travis once again asks Victoria to come away with him. Victoria reminds Travis that she can’t. She has to think of her kids. It wouldn’t be right to uproot them.

Victoria wants Travis to return to Genoa City, but he’s not willing to do that either. They decide they’ll just have to cling to the memory of their final night together. Later, Victoria heads back to GC on a plane. Travis notices that Victoria has been looking at a picture he kept of her. He prepares his boat and gets ready to leave.

Elsewhere, Jack (Peter Bergman) gives Billy (Jason Thompson) a gift. He hands over some of John’s (Jerry Douglas) cufflinks. Jack is still annoyed by Phyllis’ sabotage scheme, but he’s glad she’s not lying to him now. Billy squirms as Jack says it hurts more when dishonesty comes from family.

Other “Young and the Restless” spoilers say Phyllis will fill Billy in on Victoria’s efforts. At Jabot, Billy seems concerned about Victoria seeing Travis again. He thinks she could get hurt. Phyllis accuses Billy of being jealous, but he suspects she’s the one who’s struggling with envy. Victoria calls and Phyllis learns she had no luck with Travis. Billy quizzes Phyllis, but she just walks out.

At the athletic club, Summer (Hunter King) fears that Travis could try to take Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva) down. Luca fibs about being unable to locate Travis. When Jack (Peter Bergman) arrives, he tries to show his support for the couple. Phyllis pops in later and hopes she can still come to the wedding festivities. She says Jack was right. Summer should make her own choices.

Victor (Eric Braeden) speaks with Michael (Christian LeBlanc) at the courthouse. He finds out why Adam assaulted the guard. Michael insists that Victor needs to steer clear of Adam and the case. After Michael exits, Leslie (Angell Conwell) appears. Victor says he doesn’t trust Michael. He wants Leslie to take over Adam’s defense.

At the state pen, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam rehash what happened. Chelsea confesses that the guard is in critical condition at the hospital. She wants Adam to stay strong and believe he’ll get out soon. Adam asks to be alone with his thoughts. Once Chelsea leaves, Michael comes in and tells Adam to plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

At the penthouse, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) explains Adam’s incident to Kevin (Greg Rikaart). She plans on going to the arraignment. Chelsea makes it home and suggests that’s a bad idea. Chloe maintains that she wants to be there for Chelsea and Kevin backs her up.

At the courthouse, Michael argues with Victor when he sees him with Leslie. Nick sends them to their corners. Michael leads Adam in and tells him that the guard slipped into a coma. Adam has flashbacks of the attack. As Chloe, Chelsea and Kevin sit nearby, the judge asks how Adam pleads. He mulls it over and eventually blurts out “GUILTY!”

Y&R rumors hint that Victor will struggle to fix the mess he created. It sounds like Adam’s future will remain uncertain. We’ll give you updates as more news emerges. Stick with the CBS soap to see what’s in store.
