‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Ian Ward Pushes Two Women Back To Their Husbands

Ian Ward (Ray Wise) provokes varied reactions whenever he’s seen on ‘The Young and the Restless’. He recently kidnapped Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and then unexpectedly added Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) as a second hostage inside the fabled Abbott cabin. However, Ian’s actions proved to be the impetus both women needed to reconnect with their husbands.

Say whatever about frayed relationships, true love often is evidenced in times of crisis. So, when Victor (Eric Braeden) showed up in the woods his enduring feelings for Nikki were obvious. Meredith (Alicia Coppola) recognized reality earlier in the same episode, which helped her to see what actually rests inside the heart of ‘The Mustache’.

Phyllis is another story. She was the woman who many loyal viewers of ‘The Young and the Restless’ still blame for breaking up Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) after Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) death ages ago. In modern times her latest target became Jack’s (Peter Bergman) brother, of all people. YR devotees know that Michelle Stafford’s version of Phyllis would never look twice at Billy (when he was played by Billy Miller). But, Tognoni and Jason Thompson are different actors and it’s 2016.

With a legitimate threat from Hilary (Mishael Morgan) looming where her husband is concerned, Phyllis would be wise to keep ‘Phack’ intact. Billy has long been a rogue. So, is he really worth everything she and Jack have survived?

Hopefully, the ending segment of this particular dramatic arc doesn’t mean that Wise is leaving the show. This inimitable actor’s magnificent interpretation of Ian Ward is evergreen, regardless of the scene. Ian clearly ranks second all-time among every recurring character who has ever been written into ‘The Young and the Restless’ script. Of course, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) will always rank first.

Yes, Ian thought that his latest scheme was going to work. Kidnap Nikki, make a ransom demand of $5 million and run off laughing at everyone in the soapy world. But, Victor’s heroic actions stopped him cold. Resulting emotions allowed Victor to express how he really feels about Nikki and for Phyllis to embrace Jack, not Billy, the moment she returned safely to Genoa City. Ian was foiled on all accounts as a result.
