‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Sharon Forced To Value Patty’s Sully Silence

Sharon (Sharon Case) is being forced to value Patty’s (Stacy Haiduk) silence on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Sully is actually Christian, as Sharon has known for a long time. But, Patty has remained silent about a plot point she recognized as well when she could have told the world. If only Sharon would have made the right choice months ago? But, she didn’t and that’s become a problem.

All Patty is asking for is help. In return Sharon will be able to keep a boy who isn’t her son. That seems like a good bargain for a faux mother who has no room to negotiate.

As fans of The Young and the Restless recall, Patty was transferred to Fairview by her brother Paul (Doug Davidson). At a later point, Sharon decided to take an unusual preventative health care measure. She checked herself into the same facility where Patty was residing. Sharon wanted to prevent another bipolar episode from taking hold.

Choosing to go back to the location where Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) was born and then temporarily stolen from her by Adam (then played by Michael Muhney) seemed odd, at best. Sharon’s family was uncertain about her decision, but she checked herself in any way.

Sharon felt close to her psychiatrist, Dr. Sandy Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush), and seemed to be making progress. It was later revealed that Sandy was actually Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) former high school girlfriend. Her appearance apparently changed enough during the past few decades, without surgery, that Nick was unable to recognize her. Many high school reunion attendees can surely relate to that experience. However, Nick did feel some type of connection to this woman who made romantic overtures in his direction.

Around the time when the Smashing Pumpkins were popular, Nick dared Sandy to take a risky jump into the pool at the Newman Ranch. Her competitive swimmer instincts took hold and she accepted the challenge at the outdoor party. But, Sandy broke her neck. Unbeknownst to all involved, Sharon was hiding in the bushes and witnessed the entire incident. Victor then protected Nick, while also paying for Sandy’s extensive recovery. Of course, this entire flashback storyline was invented, as devoted ‘Shick’ fans know. Those savvy viewers also caught the deep tracks musical reference, as it connects to a concert Sharon and Nick actually attended in the 1990’s.

Sandy was surprised that she never heard from Nick again. She allowed that grudge to grow into an obsession and returned to plot revenge. Thus her reason for stealing Christian and presenting him to Sharon.

Sandy victimized Christian, Sharon, Nick, Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Dylan (Steve Burton). But, Sharon later confirmed Christian’s identity through a DNA test and should have told everyone what she learned. But, instead of being a hero she chose to play the goat, again. And, now Sharon’s being forced to value Patty’s silence by helping her in any way possible.
