Victor has taken over his own defense, now that he fired Michael Baldwin [Christian LeBlanc] who was outed for sabotaging the case and poorly defending Victor. Watching the action, you had to wonder why Victor was letting it go on so long since he knew what Michael was doing.
Then we saw that Victor was setting a trap for Michael so the judge could clearly see that the sabotage was evident. Now that Victor is representing himself, he’ll turn the tables on his family and call them to the stand one by one to tear them apart.

But what becomes evident to the judge and jury is that Victor is a man scorned whose family has turned on him – but he raises no legal defense to the accusations the state has made against him. The bottom line is that Victor should be rapidly convicted.
You know the saying that a man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client? Victor thinks he’s smarter than everyone, but the fact is, he’s aloof, wealthy, and condescending – no jury will have sympathy for him, while Phyllis Abbott [Gina Tognoni] was very sympathetic on the stand.
Even if Victor brings up that Phyllis had Adam Newman [Justin Hartley] kidnapped, that won’t help Victor’s case. Phyllis’ felony action is not a defense to what Victor did with Marco Annicelli [Peter Bergman] since it happened so far after the fact.
We’ll soon see Nikki stressed out after a harrowing day in court with Victor ripping into the Newmans, including her, and she’ll be at a bar considering taking a drink. Nikki will order a drink, thinks about it and then downs it.
But is this the start of a downward spiral for Nikki? Remember the “It’s a Wonderful Life” montage where Nikki ended up a drunk bum with everyone shunning her? Is Nikki headed for this fate? Was that not just a Victor fantasy but foreshadowing her fate?

It’s doubtful that Jack Abbott [Peter Bergman] and Neil Winters [Kristoff St John] would let her spiral like that without an intervention. Look for Nikki to pull herself together and step up as the matriarch the Newmans need while Victor is behind bars.
No doubt The Mustache won’t linger in jail for too long – Genoa City needs its favorite bad boy in the midst of the action at Newman Inc. Y&R spoilers reveal that Alicia Coppola will premiere on April 13 as prison physician Dr Meredith Gates, which indicates Victor will be in prison for a while.
