‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Mariah To Blunt Hilary’s Ambition – Devon Makes Savvy Request

If she were still alive Devon’s (Bryton James) grandmother would be proud on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Katherine (played by the late, great Jeanne Cooper) must be smiling down from Heaven. Her grandson’s decision to ask Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to serve as a balance against Hilary (Mishael Morgan) was a wise choice.

It’s fair to note that Hilary is a quick study. Without any experience in the media, she’s helping to fuel GC Buzz’ resurgence as a go-to online information source. Take note of the referenced word ‘information’, rather than news.

Devon, Hilary’s husband and owner of the noted website, wanted to transform Genoa City’s most popular digital medium into a traditional journalistic enterprise. Hilary begrudgingly agreed to his wishes, but quickly reverted to form after she learned of purported financial irregularities at Newman Enterprises. Since that point she’s began to battle with a new hire, which pushed the storyline in a new direction.

Mariah was recently hired by Hilary to be her gopher. However, an overheard conversation between Kevin (Greg Rikaart) and Mariah led Hilary to Patty’s (Stacy Haiduk) current residence at Rivercrest. Ms. Williams believed that Hilary was an attorney who was sent to help her return to the free world. Of course Mrs. Hamilton opted not to correct Patty’s misunderstanding and never mentioned that she wasn’t an attorney. So Patty freely told GC Buzz’ half-baked reporter all about Dr. Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush), Sharon (Sharon Case) and the boy who just reverted back to Christian Newman.

Hilary was in the middle of recording the hit piece on Sharon when Mariah arrived at work. The two had a blowout that Hilary later apologized for, but she also advised her underling that she was proceeding with this explosive story. As Mariah was on her way to inform human resources of her resignation, Devon stopped the poor soul and asked her to reconsider.

Hopefully Devon will fully back Mariah now that he’s convinced her to stay, as his plea to help blunt Hilary’s reckless ambition will require time, flexibility and deep patience. Responding to employee trouble isn’t something a new business owner needs, but as long as Devon allows his vociferous bride to front his media enterprise she’s likely to continue upending many apple carts. (Millennials, that wasn’t a reference to the tech company. Your gadgets won’t be endangered.) Mariah has guts and could be the perfect person to check Hilary’s ego indefinitely.
