‘The Young and The Restless’ Spoilers: Cane Stole ‘Brash & Sassy’ From Billy Does He Have What it Takes To Succeed?

Staying true to itself, ‘The Young and the Restless’ has brought back some history in today’s episode, when Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Cane (Daniel Goddard) got into a physical altercation.  I don’t know what hurt Billy more, the fact that his carelessness made him lose the one thing, the company, “Brash & Sassy” that tied him to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) or that he got punched in the face by Cane?

I would think that Cane’s words would have cut far deeper, after Billy was taunting him that he was doing it for dear old mom, meaning Jill Fenmore Atkinson (Jess Walton); Cane had no issue throwing it back into Billy’s face that this wasn’t the first time Jill would replace Billy with him!  Talk about being punched in the gut!!  You have to wonder if these words will truly sink in.  Billy has been very reckless, angry and out of control lately, is this really the “wake up call” he told Jack it was?

The history runs pretty deep with these two. When Cane arrived in town in 2007, he was a bartender at ‘Indigo’, the nightclub Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) owned. He came with a mysterious past, as a man looking for his unknown birth mother. After many missteps, invalid marriages, miscarriages, and false paternities the truth finally came out. In 2009, it was revealed that Cane and the real Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz) were in fact conning Jill, Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and the rest of the family.

Cane discovered that Katherine had a brain tumor and she named him interim CEO at Chancellor Industries. We learned that Katherine had passed away from terminal cancer while on a trip around the world with her beloved Murphy.  She left Cane as CEO, but left her percentage to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). This affected Billy in many ways. He always felt second class to Cane, and that his own mother, Jill preferred Cane over him.

We have been watching Cane and Lily for quite a while lately, working as managers of the Genoa City Athletic Club, but had no idea he was planning a takeover of Brash & Sassy with Jill, their deception has just reignited the hatred between Billy and Cane and we look forward to seeing how this all turns out.

What do you all think of Cane returning to the corporate world?  Are you as excited as Lily to see how Cane will succeed, or if he can be ruthless like Victor, when it comes time to battle it out with Newman Enterprises and Jabot Cosmetics? Or is Billy finally going to end up on top?  Both men have great business sense and could run a successful business.  Who are you rooting for?
