Sharon (Sharon Case) and Dylan (Steve Burton) are poor souls on ‘The Young and the Restless’. ‘Shylan’ deserves time with Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) during the holidays and Nick (Joshua Morrow) knows in his heart what’s best. Despite all that’s happened, the best interests of his child is what matters most.
Not everyone is a daily viewer. So, for them, here’s a recap – Sharon was given Nick and Sage’s (Kelly Sullivan) son while in Fairview’s mental health facility.

She was convinced by her psychiatrist, of all people, that she was pregnant. Dr. Anderson (Elizabeth Bogush) committed multiple criminal acts that led to Christian being rebranded as Sully McAvoy.
Meanwhile Sandy worked with a nurse at Genoa City Memorial Hospital to convince Nick and Sage that Christian had died. Yes that was a strange storyline, even for a daytime drama.
Dylan had no idea that the boy who he thought was his first-born child was actually his half-brother’s son. Some may be offended by the term ‘half-brother’, but they should compare this latest selective outrage to what Dylan has just gone through. His pain is real, whereas the emotions of the offended are often concocted in their minds and then projected onto innocent parties. And that point takes this story back to Nick.
Does he have every right, both emotional and legal, to be outraged by what his ex-wife Sharon did? Oh yes he does. But should he deny the brother who he gained through his mother (Nikki, Melody Thomas Scott) access to Christian as a result? No, he shouldn’t.

Measured compromise is where the battles of life can often be resolved. So Nick would be right to initially put a carefully considered point in place whenever Sharon is allowed to have contact with Christian. That point would be a person and his name is Dylan, who did nothing wrong in this scenario from the jump.
Sharon cared for and genuinely loves Christian. Nick can’t deny that fact. Time won’t make Mr. Newman forget what the ex-Mrs. Newman did in knowingly keeping his child from him. But the coming weeks will change this dynamic, as savvy viewers know. Burton’s vision of Dylan is about to go, or be replaced. And that reality stands to change this play in some way, possibly dramatically.
