Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) has a decision to make on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She can cut off her deepening relationship with Billy (Jason Thompson), or endorse a new tomorrow. At this point, ‘Red’ still controls her fate. A shortening angle of emotional opportunity allows Phyllis an opportunity to confess to Jack (Peter Bergman). Withholding that information will almost certainly result in some type of forced future revelation.
In math, a triangle is a closed plane figure that has three sides and three angles. Soap opera loyalists know that the application of geometry intentionally injects drama into daytime. In this Genoa City problem, Phyllis might opt for one of Billy’s vices. She could gamble that ‘Philly’ will remain undiscovered and conceal the truth from her husband indefinitely. However, that option would surely result in eventual disaster.
The writing staff of ‘The Young and the Restless’ has created another classic dilemma. Should two people who believe that they love each other attempt to curtail their feelings in order to avoid hurting someone who they both care about? Obviously, Jack will be crushed no matter how he learns of this betrayal.
Jack’s glare would seize Phyllis the instant she admitted to caring about Billy. But, the alternative of her not doing so and Jack somehow discovering the truth on his own would certainly create a worse outcome. So, Phyllis naturally feels conflicted.
The origin of ‘Phack’s’ vulnerability is linked to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He’s the man who brought Marco Anaselli (also played by Peter Bergman) to town. Phyllis’ acceptance of that doppelganger as her husband eventually led to Jack’s understandable confusion. How could she not know who Marco really was? Like Jack, viewers of ‘The Young and the Restless’ were asked to believe something that seemed (and was) impossible.
Jack subsequently decided not to pursue vengeance where Victor was concerned. Phyllis felt that her husband wasn’t defending her honor. Billy, who’s had his own fabled war with ‘The Mustache’, teamed with ‘Red’ to fight back via the ill-fated Paragon Project. It was at that plot point that ‘Philly’ formed. Now, all three life lines (Phyllis, Jack and Billy) exist as a temporary triangle.

This would give Y&R the time to get rid of NO CHEMISTRY Billy, n find someone who would have chemistry with a least someone on the soap. I like Jack n Phyllis together, they started out as friends n it developed into marriage. I hope it doesn’t end up with Billy n Phyllis together, I think everyone feels this is a SICKING storyline n more fast forwarding for viewers.
