We’re loving the feisty turn Phyllis has taken lately and Gina Tognoni is pouring her heart into it. Phyllis’ emotions tend to be all over the place in any given episode. It takes a stellar performer to pull that off and Tognoni consistently rises to the challenge.
This week Tognoni impressed us by displaying Phyllis’ anger and determination to bring Victor (Eric Braeden) down. Tognoni is also one of the best criers on “The Young and the Restless.” When Phyllis made up with Jack (Peter Bergman), Tognoni turned on the waterworks and stole the show. It probably caused some viewers to reach for their tissue boxes, too.
Nick is the steady anchor of Y&R and so is his portrayer. Joshua Morrow is definitely a superb actor and we appreciate the finesse he brings to the role. Nick shared scenes with several characters this week and we enjoyed all of those interactions.
Morrow has been showing us Nick’s concern for Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and a deep appreciation for Sharon (Sharon Case). The scenes with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Shawn (Devon Martinez) were also on point. Morrow’s excellent delivery and strong screen presence make him a huge asset to “The Young and the Restless.”
If you haven’t heard by now, Sofia Pernas no longer has a contract with Y&R. It’s really a shame because Pernas is certainly a bright spot on the CBS soap. Pernas gives Marisa some good layers. This week Marisa was in a tizzy over Noah’s (Robert Adamson) trial, but she still found the strength to lay down the law with Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva).
From frantic to furious, Pernas brought great stuff to the table. The glee over Noah’s proposal was fun as well. According to Soap Opera Digest, Pernas will remain on recurring status. However, we’ll miss seeing Marisa around Genoa City more often.
“The Young and the Restless” finally gave “Lane” fans exactly what they wanted this week. Cane decided that he couldn’t function without Lily (Christel Khalil) in his life and they officially made up. Daniel Goddard conveyed a gentle sweetness and a real sense of longing. It was easy to see that Cane desperately wanted a clean slate.
Between that dreamy accent and his terrific acting skills, Goddard is a pleasure to watch. Let’s hope we’ll see more of Cane now that he’s patched things up with Lily. Scenes with the twins are a bonus. Goddard is too cute when Cane’s in “Daddy mode.”
So Y&R fans, what do you think about our selections for performer of the week? Which one was your favorite? Vote in our poll and don’t forget to check Soap Opera Spy often for the latest “Young and the Restless” spoilers, rumors, updates and news.
