‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Melissa Claire Egan Sounds Off On Possible Adam Newman Recast

The role of Adam Newman on The Young And The Restless is now left vacant since Justin Hartley has left to pursue other projects.  Melissa Claire Egan, who plays his onscreen wife, Chelsea, does not believe the show will recast the role.

According to Soap Central, Egan revealed that she’s doubtful a recast will happen. Hartley’s new series ‘This Is Us’ for which he is a series regular premiered this week on NBC. He really has his hands tied and though many were hoping he would do double duty on both ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘This Is Us’, this was not the case.

Chelsea is now left as the grieving widow for the second time. She is also left as a single parent to Connor.  Since May this year when it was announced that ‘This Is Us’ was picked up by NBC and Justin Harley was a part of it in a major role it was speculated that his Y&R future was in trouble. Since then he has recently exited the CBS soap opera in scenes where Adam was in a building that blew up.

Since Adam’s death the question has been weighing on fans’ minds whether the show would recast him like they did the last time, when Michael Muhney exited the role. Some were even speculating that former ‘All My Children’ actor Aiden Turner [ex-Aidan DeVane] was the new Adam since he was potted on the set of ‘The Young and the Restless’. So far him taking on the role has been nothing but just a rumor.

While we are still waiting on ‘The Young and the Restless’ to speak out on what they’ve decided to do with the role of Adam Newman, we can go by Egan’s word where she declares she doesn’t believe there is any intention to recast her dead husband.
