‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Jess Walton’s Presence On ‘Y&R’ Is Comforting To Long Time Fans – Mal Young’s Changes Proving Successful

Jess Walton’s recent return to the set of ‘The Young and the Restless’ has proved comforting for longtime viewers. Once a key player in Genoa City, Jill stands as a link to the halcyon days of this iconic CBS’ steamer. Her current arc also lends itself to the possibility of an extended stay in Wisconsin.

New executive producer Mal Young has already implemented changes in the scene format ‘The Young and the Restless’ uses on a daily basis. Up to five separate sequences are rotated throughout each episode, as opposed to the more traditional set of three. More scenes means more character usage, increases the variety of fictional faces that are seen.

There are 34 actors shown on Y&R’s current cast list. Some, like Walton, have recurring contracts. The characters they portray appear on a semi-regular basis. Tristan Rogers (Colin) is part of the show’s ensemble and like Walton, has recurring status. He’s scheduled to return to the show on August 24.

Rogers joined ‘The Young and the Restless’ in 2010. His character was initially invented to further deepen Cane’s (Daniel Goddard) backstory. Then, over time, he and Jill meshed, which helped to form the likeable power couple ‘Jilin’.

Currently, Jill has reinvigorated Chancellor Industries by hiring Cane, Billy (Jason Thompson), and Vickie (Amelia Heinle) to lead Brash and Sassy. She also busted ‘Philly’, which could bode well for ‘Phack’ and ‘Villy’ if everything continues to progress in positive directions. As for Colin, he’s sure to dabble in Cane’s renewed interest in high-corporate dealings as soon as he reappears.

Devoted fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ are well-versed in the historical element of this show. They know that beloved moments when Jill and Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) engaged in charismatic competitions are gone. But, loyalists also know that Walton is still working at the top of her game and remains a force within each scene that she appears in. This great actor consistently projects her talent to a receptive audience that is always ready to welcome her home.
