Soap Opera Weekly Ratings May 9-13: ‘GH’ Ratings Are Up – ‘Y&R’ ‘B&B’ And ‘DOOL’ Ratings Drop

The soap opera weekly ratings for May 9 through May 13 show that ‘General Hospital’ viewers are back! After declining ratings for total viewers and women in the 18-49 demographic ‘GH’ viewers are enjoying the soap opera’s May Sweeps storylines.

However, ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ did not fare so well in either category for the week of May 9-13. Viewers tuned out in droves in both demographics. ‘DOOL’ lost total viewers but gained in the women 18-49 category.

Days of Our Lives

Soap Opera Network reports that after a great first week of May Sweeps ‘DOOL’ viewers tuned out with 2,225,000 watching May 9 through May 13. That is a loss of 3,000 total viewers. Women 18-49 were watching to the tune of 430,000 viewers. That represents a gain of 22,000 viewers in that demographic.

General Hospital

Great news for ‘GH’ during the second week of May Sweeps – 2,746,000 total viewers were watching. That is a gain of 51,000 from the previous week. The daytime drama welcomed back women in the 18-49 demographic with 465,000 watching. That’s a gain of 14,000 viewers in that category over the previous week.

The Bold and the Beautiful

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ took a huge hit with both total viewers and women 18-49. For the week of May 9-13 there were 3,695,000 total viewers – a loss of 130,000 from the previous week. There were 521,000 women ages 18-49 watching. That’s a loss of 56,000 viewers in that demographic.

The Young and the Restless

The bad news for ‘The Young and the Restless is that 4,722,000 total viewers tuned in, a loss of 188,000 fans. The soap opera has lost favor again with women 18-49 with 638,000 watching last week. That’s loss of 59,000 viewers during the second week of May Sweeps.

What happened with ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ during the second week of May Sweeps? ‘Y&R’ did well the first week and ‘B&B’ didn’t gain viewers, but it didn’t lose any either.

‘General Hospital’ made a huge comeback the second week of May sweeps. Can the soap opera keep it up? ‘DOOL’ is remaining steady, losing a few viewers here, gaining them back the next week. Can the lone NBC soap opera continue on the upswing?
