Soap Opera Ratings Week May 23-27: ‘GH’ Continues Ratings Gain – ‘DOOL’ Hits New Low – ‘Y&R’ ‘B&B’ Ratings Plummet

The soap opera weekly ratings for May 23 through May 27 show that ‘Days of Our Lives’ ratings hit new lows with across the board. After gaining back some viewers the previous week, ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ ratings are down once again.
Fantastic news for ‘General Hospital’ fans. After a ratings drop the week before ‘GH’ enjoyed gains in both total viewers and in the all-important women 18-49 demographic.
Days of Our Lives
‘DOOL’ viewers are not enjoying the soap opera and have shown their dissatisfaction by tuning out for the second week in a row. For the week of May 16 through May 20 ‘DOOL’ had 2,981,000 total viewers. That’s a loss of 91,000 for that week, and a loss the previous week of 53,000 viewers. That is a loss of 53,000 total viewers. Viewers in the women 18-49 tuned out for the third week in a row with 345,000 tuning in. That represents a loss of 63,000 and that’s a new low for the daytime drama in this category.
Please note, ‘Days of Our Lives’ was preempted on Monday, May 30, Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 4 for the French Open. Ratings for the soap opera for the week of May 30 through June 4 will most likely see a drop once again.
General Hospital
Soap Opera News has fantastic news for ‘GH’ fans. 2,886,000 total viewers were watching the week of May 16-23. That is a gain of 122,000 total viewers from the previous week. The daytime drama not only jumped up in the ratings with total viewers, it also wooed back women viewers in the 18-49 demographic with 483,000 watching. That’s a gain of 36,000 in this category after a small loss the previous week.
The Bold and the Beautiful
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ took a hit in both total viewers and in the women 18-49 demographic. After welcoming back viewers across the board ‘B&B’ had 3,705,000 total viewers which represents a loss of 77,000 watchers of the daytime drama. There were 550,000 women ages 18-49 watching which represents a small loss of 1,000 viewers for the week of May 23 through May 27.
The Young and the Restless
‘The Young and the Restless’ fans are not watching with only 4,646,000 total viewers for the week of May 23-27. Compared to the previous week that is a loss of 112,000 fans. The soap opera once again lost favor in the women 18-49 demographic with 682,000 watching May 23 through May 27 – a loss of 28,000 viewers.
